Every year my friend Kara, gets a surprise birthday party thrown by her fiancé! (They will be married this year in October! Congrats to them!) She sent me this picture from her birthday last year which was filled with excitement because there was a theme. A theme makes every occasion better, people. That year, the theme was pink. All of the guests dressed in ensembles of pink and every decoration was pink. From the balloons to the champagne glasses, to the cake. It was the pink theme put to perfection. We hung out in a hotel in downtown Brooklyn and surprised her with pink party horns, glitter, photo shoots, the whole shebang! It was such an enjoyable night that I still remember like it was yesterday. I met some new friends who are so fun that I can’t even keep up with them! (You know those people? We all need them in our lives to keep us young!) As I looked at this picture, I thought “I really should wear more pink more often.” I went to my closet and realized, “wait, this top (from the pic) is one of 2 pink tops that I own.” Pink, being a color (with variations) that looks great on virtually every skin tone, I decided that I would begin my search to add a little more pink to my life. Here is what I found and I am sharing it with you! I’d like to call this, “The Pink Shop.”
Did any of these pink items speak to you? If so, which ones? I’ve been eyeing this dress for about 3 weeks now. So I went ahead and finally bought it. I always say that if you’re shopping, always remember that you do not need any of these items. They are simply wants. We have to be cognizant that we do not have to purchase things we want right away. If you are looking for a pink piece and you saw one that you liked from this gallery, make sure to sleep on it and make sure it is within your budget. Also assess the amount of times you will wear the item (hopefully frequently!). If 24-72 hrs have gone by, and you’re still thinking about the item and you meet all the other criteria, then by all means purchase the item! I like to live by these rules in order to keep my closet from being cluttered (I’ve learned from experience) and to make sure I’m not frivolously spending.
